by Stephen Gillespiepublished onThis is what happens after a couple of decades to a capacitor. The capacitor here is used to limit the EMI and the power supply will work without it. Most computers from the 80's have the same issue with their capacitors and will need to be changed.
I managed to find a replacement capacitor on Ebay.co.uk as I like things to look original and we need to preserve magic smoke for the next generation. :-)
I found this part number (PZB300MC13R30 Evox Rifa Capacitor , Delta Network , 0.1Uf+2X 4.7Nf) and will include an update with the fitting and testing once it arrives.
